Why does DeskShade prevent my computer from sleeping when DeskLock is active?
Due to a limitation in Mac OS X (including 10.5 Leopard), it's not possible to disable Exposé without also preventing normal sleep and screensaver functionality. If you use DeskLock mainly for decorative purposes (not for tight security), DeskShade 2.1 allows you to activate a less safe, sleep enabling DeskLock in its preferences.
How do I use deskshade:// links?
DeskShade's links are very easy to make. They look like this: deskshade://add?www.yoursite.com/yourpicture.jpg, where www.yoursite.com/yourpicture.jpg is the actual location of the desktop picture you want to publish.
This link code can be used in chats, e-mails, or on a website. When clicked, DeskShade opens and offers the user to add the desktop picture.
Is DeskShade a hack? Will it compromise system stability?
No, DeskShade is not a hack and cannot cause stability problems for other applications.
Why don't I see any nice transitions when changing my desktop?
The desktop transitions in DeskShade 2 require some graphic card capabilities some old Mac models don't have. Transitions are automatically disabled on unsupported Macs. Any recent Mac fully supports them.
Why can't I drag around the DeskShade menu item?
Apple no longer allows third party developers to create draggable menu items.
Mac OS X 10.4 or higher. Demo is fully functional for 15 days. License needed afterwards.
